Aloha at the Maui Montage

Montage Kapalua Bay Hotel is a textbook paradise retaining all the familiar qualities you would ascribe to a tropical getaway, along with a few surprises. The 24-acre sanctuary sits along the waters of Namalu Bay, between towering sea cliffs and an intimate beach. It’s simple architecture combines modern luxury with traditionally Hawaiian themes, featuring polished wood, gaping windows and island décor. Though refined, its style complements the natural beauty of its surroundings without being disruptive or tacky, as the overall design allows guests to continuously feel the warm, open air and natural serenity. The atmosphere is luxurious but relaxed; formal yet tranquil. Paths and social spaces entangle with lush infinity pools, tropical gardens and mini waterfalls.

A slender path flanked by koi ponds leads to the lobby, which immediately seduces guests with a sprawling view of the Pacific Ocean. As one of Maui’s most northern resorts, the Montage is characterized by placidity and seclusion, offering guests relief from the tourist crowds and complexes of Ka’anapali through verdant spaces where peace and calm are easily found. Recognized as one of the premier golf resorts in the world, Kapalua Bay is conveniently located near The Planation Course and The Bay Course, where you can enjoy nine holes in heaven. For other activities and excursions, guests can take the shuttle to the Kapalua Tennis courts, embark on a tropical hike to explore Maui and much more.

Fifty-six villas are spread across the expansive property, each featuring a gourmet kitchen, spacious living room and private lanai with room for both lounging and dining. The Grand Residences range from 2,700 to 4,000 square feet and even offer custom interior options, so guests can personalize the villa to their taste and preference. They provide comfortable, island-style living, featuring three to four homestyle bedrooms, private elevator access and “Sand Room” entries. Residence 2101 offers a ground-floor location, a capacious living space that opens to one of three lanais and a private lawn overlooking the Pacific. 5304 features unparalleled views of the West Maui Mountains, the marble blue ocean and the island of Lanai, while the customizable 6102 provides another secluded, ground-level abode with a private pool, hot tub and gorgeous garden area. Needless to say, wherever you choose to reside, you’ll never forget you’re in a paradise.

Spa & Wellness

Occupying 5 acres in itself, the resort’s Spa offers a truly peaceful experience. It’s concealed amidst a tropical garden with a snaking river and provides both indoor and outdoor treatment rooms. Even indoors, you’ll be treated to the open air in seclusion, as the wooden huts feature four walls of mostly bifold doors and a high ceiling, The outdoor area resembles a small village comprised of several private huts that each include their own soaking tub and outdoor shower. The luxurious locker rooms are connected to hydrotherapy centers containing whirlpool hot tubs, steam rooms and a sauna, in addition to the outdoor infinity pool and hot tub. This impressive spa also has a vintage barber shop, salon, juice bar and boutique shop.

Restaurants & Bars

Throughout the tranquil grounds lie several gathering and dining spaces fitting for casual day drinks or a formal dinner. The hotel’s foremost restaurant, Cane and Canoe, is located in the center of the property and serves modern Hawaiian cuisine among authentically styled interiors influenced by a traditional island canoe house.  The Hideaway bar offers cocktails, sushi and dessert in an intimate setting, while Hana Hou and Beach Club restaurant afford poolside dining with perfect views of Lanai and Molokai.

Cliff House

But it’s the Montage’s Cliff House that offers the most elegant and unique domain of all. Built in 1940, it originally served as a meeting place for administrators of the historic Honolulu Plantation. Today, its operated by the Montage as an ideal venue for exclusive events like weddings, corporate events or rehearsal dinners. Nestled on the island cliffs, the waterfront venue accommodates up to forty guests with two open floors, conference style seating and direct access to the ocean. Cliff House even features the revered Champagne Hale, a pop-up lounge and bar where locals and guests can try an assortment of champagnes while glimpsing the Maui sunset.
